Coaching high school baseball is always a privilege—but coaching for the HEAT, the Home Education Athletic League, brings a unique kind of joy.
In a league built by families, for families, HEAT baseball is about more than just wins and losses. It’s about character, community, and Christ-centered competition. These young men come to the field with a hunger not only to grow as athletes, but as leaders, teammates, and men of integrity.
As a coach, I get a front-row seat to transformation—watching raw talent sharpen into skill, quiet confidence replace early nerves, and friendships form that go way beyond the diamond. There’s something special about a team where parents are in the stands not just as spectators, but as fellow educators and encouragers. We share the same mission: raising up strong young men who reflect God’s glory both in victory and in defeat.
From hot afternoon practices to twilight games, from Scripture-based team devotions to rides packed with laughter, HEAT baseball reminds me why I coach. It’s more than a game. It’s a calling.
